AboutHi, I'm Shawn LeHue, and I have a weird obsession with services, processes, customer experiences, and how we all think.
After being immersed in design thinking concepts ten years ago as part of the MBA curriculum at Case Western Reserve University, and taught by Richard Buchanan (brutally honest quote above), the former head of the Carnegie Mellon School of Design, I was hooked. Combining my education and twenty years of experience designing and building solutions in IT and HR has given me a unique perspective. So that's a little about me, now let me share more about where this whole Curiously Business comes from, and curiously thinking. When I first learned about what is now often referred to as design thinking, that phrase was never mentioned. Sadly, it seems that this whole concept has become a quick marketing ploy, and claims to be able to do amazing things, quickly and easily! It has been turned into a formula, a few simple steps and we unlock the secrets to the universe! Well, it doesn't work that way, but I still think it's worth digging into and learning how it can help you discover and evaluate new ideas. When I first learned about this stuff, it was about identifying design opportunities. Let that sink in for a bit. There were no formulas, no five step process, it was about how do we see the world around us, how do people interact with each other, and with the things around them. It was deep, it was thought provoking, and it was messy! The beauty of this method though is the simplicity, but like many things in life that are simple, it takes time to truly understand and master. If you haven't already, download the PDF, and let me know what you think. There will be more to come If you've got a question, want to learn more, or just want to share your idea, let me know...I want to hear it! |
